Observing, Interpreting, and Responding to Preterm Infant
Cues is a multimedia training CD ROM that includes video,
photos, text, and audio. Evidence that supports using cues
to guide care is provided through documentation of research
findings in relevant literature. The CD Rom provides
information specific to preterm infant sensitivity to
discomfort: variability in infant ability to express
disorganization, stress, discomfort, or pain; meanings of
infant cues; and developmentally supportive practices to
reduce disorganization, stress, and discomfort. Photo and video demonstrations are provided to show examples
of body, extremity, and facial cues as well as ways to use
infant cues during routine and medical care.
